Goshen 2012 - July 22 through July 28
The Pack is now planning for this summer's Pack 1094 Goshen scout trip scheduled for July 22 to July 28.
The purpose of this communication is to provide you with some Goshen information and get a preliminary headcount responce. Last year, Pack 1094 had 12 kids attend camp and we hope to have even more this year!
Goshen is the National Capital Area Council's overnight summer camp located on 4,000+ acres in the mountains of southwestern Virginia, about three and one-half hours from Washington, D.C., near Lexington, Virginia. Goshen has 6 different camps located on the 4000+ acres and it also has it's own 450-acre Lake Merriweather, which is used for the varied water activities that make summer camp exciting and comfortable.
Pack 1094 will attend the PMI Goshen Camp. Camp P.M.I. is one of the six camps that make up Goshen Scout Reservation. P.M.I., a camp for boys entering the 4th and 5th grades. The camp staff host programs which consist of aquatics, nature, Scoutcraft, field sports, handicraft, volleyball, climbing, horseshoes, frisbee golf, plus a camp store and instruction in first aid. There are also several popular hiking trails are close to the PMI Camp. Such as Viewing Rock and Swinging Bridge.
All boys entering the 4th and 5th grade can attend. Parents can also attend for a full or partial week. Last year we had 7 parents particpate in the Goshen experience.
Goshen is a great summer camp and provides a wonderful environment to learn about camping, the outdoors, and scouting…not to mention it is a great way for the the boys to have fun with their friends for a whole week! Goshen is also a great bargain! If registered by April 7 the cost is $280/scout and $230/adult...this covers camping, meals, activities, and campsite snacks! If register by June 1st the cost goes up slightly to $300/scout and $245/adult. This fee has been reduced by $50 thanks to pack contributing $50 for each scout attending Goshen.
I would like to get a preliminary scout headcount for Goshen summer camp so please let me know if your Son (and you) are interested in attending Goshen scout camp! Anyone confirming by Friday March 16th will get a free Goshen baseball hat!
